Ambassador Al-Adailah: Jordan Places Importance on Deepening Arab Economic Coordination and Expanding Joint Action
Al-Taj News – Jordan’s Permanent Representative to the League of Arab States, Ambassador Amjad Al-Adailah, headed the Jordanian delegation participating in the proceedings of the 118th session of the Economic and Social Council at the ministerial level, which was held under the chairmanship of Saudi Arabia on Thursday at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States.
In Jordan’s statement, which he delivered on behalf of the Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply, Al-Adailah affirmed that Jordan attaches great importance to deepening Arab economic coordination and expanding frameworks for joint action, and that the Kingdom, through the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Supply and its role in the Economic and Social Council, is making every effort to strengthen Arab economic, trade, and investment relations and is fully prepared to exchange expertise and activate communication channels and mechanisms for cooperation with brotherly countries.
He pointed to the importance of the items on the agenda of the current session concerning key economic and social sectors, foremost among them matters related to the Greater Arab Free Trade Area, developments in the Arab Customs Union, trade and investment conditions in Arab countries, and the development of joint Arab economic and social action.
He highlighted Jordan’s active participation, alongside other countries, in advancing inter-Arab cooperation projects, leading to decisions and recommendations that contribute to achieving the desired Arab integration. At the same time, he noted that the repercussions of the security challenges and wars taking place in the region on the economic system, particularly in the sectors of transport, supply and provisioning chains, energy, and food security, call for the development of more effective and innovative cooperation mechanisms to address them.
Jordan, through the Economic Office at the Kingdom’s Permanent Mission to the League of Arab States, participated in the preparatory meetings of the Economic and Social Council, which addressed a number of important issues aimed at strengthening cooperation and coordination among Arab countries in various economic, social, and development fields.
